Women's right to vote is a right that has been fought for and won over many years. Women in the United States were granted this right in 1920 when the 19th amendment to the US Constitution was ratified, giving women the right to vote nationally in the US. Prior to this, the struggle for women's suffrage had started much earlier, with feminists fighting for decades and in some states achieving the right to vote before the 19th amendment. Today, women's right to vote is protected and upheld in the US, as well as in many other countries around the world.
