Class Notes:
This is a beginning literacy (pre-beginning) level ESOL course. Students are taught all aspects of English, including listening, speaking, reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation and conversation. The purpose of the class is to help students boost their English language skills in order to obtain better paying jobs, enroll in job training, or pursue higher/further education. In addition students will also gain awareness of civics and current events in the United States, while sharing and celebrating their own cultures and backgrounds. By increasing communication skills, students will become more independent in the USA.

2. Fair - recognizes features of English text and is familiar with a number of frequently occurring nouns, verbs, and phrases; uses information gained from visuals to support comprehension
1. Needs improvement - has begun to recognize basic features of English text with support
